Sorry guys! But don’t forget the time Elon Musk turned on people’s locations automatically in social media in the US and showed like half of them as foreign political accounts 😂 The bots are VERY real but this story had nothing to do with social media bots.

But for the bots to have a destination, they first need to crawl the internet to find the relevant posts, information, or news hooks. So, I still think that the inability to do this via their own data centers disrupted the workflow. Also, traffic to external networks and VPNs is currently being actively blocked there, so I assume they relied specifically on their own internal services, search engines, etc.

I used to work in social media safety, they buy and sell both accounts on ACCS market, and then use either farms of phones with an app layer or stuff like raspberry pi's. each device will have accounts tied to a real world mobile number, this with the use of a physio device and an aged profile will make it seem more real to the platforms, Vs say a fresh profile made with an untrusted burner email

the data centers route internet traffic dns etc that's enough to effect services these bots may relay on. if you hit Google data centers and there dns server 8.8.8.8 went down believe me that would effect lots of stuff 😄

there defo was a drop, the amount of "vote reform, reform for me, Nigel a legend" etc etc dropped dramatically on tik tok and even on reddit a loooooot of the political posts were quiet (even r/conservative was more normal people than psycho bots)
