In college I had a guy walking behind me at night and after a minute he said “hey, I don’t want you to be worried because I’m walking behind you so can I walk a head of you?” And I think about how cool that guy was to this day

One time a guy asked if I had a boyfriend I held up my hand and said “fiancé” his exact reaction was “and he’s a damn lucky man. You have a wonderful day beautiful” and just walked away. I didn’t know how to react but my flabbers were gasted

I was out with a friend (guy) when he started making me uncomfortable with his comments and kept trying to touch me. Another guy walked up, told friend he was bothering me and to keep his hands to himself. I married the guy that stood up for me.

I was once at the bus stop, sitting and waiting for my bus at night after work. 3 tipsy and loud dudes went up to me and asked for bus directions. They all kinda cornered me and asked a bunch of questions. Then one of them noticed how uncomfortable I was and said “Ok guys let’s back up a bit, we’re like 3 tipsy dudes cornering her this late at night. Sorry, we promise we’re not weird”. Yeah, it’s nice to see when men actually have awareness.

There was a guy I always said ‘Good morning’ to on my way to work, because we bumped into each other every day. (I’m a girl from the countryside – there, it’s perfectly normal to say hello to anyone you meet on the way.)
One day, out of blue, he gave me an Red Bull with his number on it. I thanked him and said I had a BF. He told me to take the drink anyway and wished me a lovely day. We continued to say hello to each other every morning.

One time I was in a foreign city and I was being followed by a drunk man who was a migrant from my own country, all the way from the bus. Another guy, a local noticed this, got off the bus and offered to walk with me. He kept the distance, didn't speak or anything, just walking beside me until I reached my accomodation and waited until I unlocked the gate and went inside

one time I was waiting for the traffic lights to turn green so I can continue my walk and there was a guy who was smoking a vape. I don't like the smoke of it so I covered my nose with my sleeve and when he saw me do that he stopped smoking for the time we had to Tait for the traffic lights and walk the same path. when we weren't on the same street anymore he started smoking again.
I still think it's cute

People forget that there's a time and place to shoot your shot. 2 am is not it. During serious/difficult situations is not it. When the politely turn you down is not it.

I like to think I'm not a very intimidating looking guy but I still avoid walking behind women at night, I'll usually just cross the street instead

One night I was walking home and this guy was catching up on me, I kept turning around to see how close he was getting to me, and he was getting really close. There was this island thing in the road, so I crossed over, stood on the island and looked to see if he would follow. He then said “oh, you’re scared, I’m scaring you, sorry and he jogged off away in front of me” I think about that guy, a lot.

One evening, I was walking to my niece’s house. I had to go through a dark alley. A man was walking behind me; he followed me into the alley and said, “Hey, sorry, I’m not following you, I just live there; that’s the entrance to my backyard" whilst pointing to a door I had to walk past. I still think about that man every now and then.

just this week I was on a work trip in London and came back to the hotel pretty late and alone, two guys were waiting for the elevators as well when I first stepped in, the first guy stopped his friend and told him they'll let me go first and they'll take the next one so I wouldn't be stuck alone with two men in the middle of the night 🥹

I was walking home from work and a drunk dude was obnoxiously loud and was trying to take off his pants. A group of young boys saw me from across the street and came up to me pretending to be my brother and his friends until the drunk guys left. They escorted me to the nearest store so I could calm down. Thank god those guys were decent

Years ago I was on the tube on my way to a party. A man who was clearly coming back home from working in construction smiled at me and told me in the most nice and parental way: “You look so beautiful, have a good night”. I said thank you and smiled back. It was a very simple interaction, but it made my night and I still remember it. He was tired, and still had time and energy to tell a stranger sth nice.

I was walking home from work around about 8pm listening to my headphones when a guy sitting on the floor asked me for money. I apologised and said I didn't have any and continued walking home. A couple of minutes later, four guys approach me. Two of them chase off the guy that I didn't realise had been following me. When they got back, the four of them walked me to my street. This was 10 years ago and I still think about them. I hope they're doing really well

when i was kid, a rather large man walked up to me on my way home. I was taken back because I had a large white boxer so it was rare someone even tried to walk near me. he let me know there were 3 men following me and asked if he could walk me home. I looked back and there they were half a block back, I hadn't noticed. I was 14 and remain forever grateful.

I know I'm a safe person. My friends and family know that. But nobody else does, and I don't blame women at all for being defensive.
I remember walking back to the bar from my girlfriend's house at 2 a.m. to get my moped. I'd dropped the girls off in the car, so I left it there and walked back to the bar as it was letting out.
I ended up walking behind the parking lot, inadvertently following the same path as a group of women. I spoke up and asked if they'd seen a yellow moped. They said yes, so I asked if I could get by to reach it. I didn't want them thinking I was following them.
I gave them space, went around them, got on my moped, and apologized if I'd scared them.
I knew I wasn't a threat. But they didn't know me, and they had no reason to know that.
That's something I've always understood. You can't expect strangers to know your character just because you know it yourself.
