We hope that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will put the interests of his people above all other considerations and will not focus exclusively on himself, his family, or those around him. Instead, he should place the suffering of the Ukrainian people at the forefront of his priorities, as they have endured immense hardship and suffered enormous losses across many aspects of their lives. He should reflect on the scale of the destruction inflicted on Ukraine and its infrastructure, as well as the devastating consequences of the war for citizens’ lives, the country’s resources, and the future of generations to come. Responsibility requires putting the interests of the people above any political gains or personal calculations and ensuring that decisions of such historic importance are not made at the expense of citizens’ safety and stability. Russia is a neighboring country of Ukraine, and geography inevitably requires both nations to seek ways to coexist peacefully. Therefore, prioritizing dialogue, diplomacy, and the pursuit of a just peaceful settlement could pave the way toward ending the war, stopping further losses, rebuilding what has been destroyed, and protecting civilian lives and the future of the Ukrainian people.
