@bymuseum: The Bedroom (1888) By Vincent van Gogh 📍 Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam Van Gogh painted his own bedroom in the Yellow House in Arles, but he was not trying to reproduce the room exactly. He wrote that the colors and simplified forms were meant to suggest rest and to calm the imagination. That makes the painting’s slight instability so interesting. The floor rises, the furniture tilts and the intense colors make an ordinary room feel emotionally charged. The Bedroom is less about furniture than about the need to create a place where the mind might finally rest. Follow @bymuseum for more stories behind famous paintings.

We wouldn't know much Van Gogh if it wasn't for his sister-in-law who dedicated her life to make him famous

Something was off. Nobody noticed. But, I did. I did. • • • Enfin.

He did not live to see any of the recognition the world gave his work, yet that man was driven and kept believing. Poignantly sad and inspiring like that yellow [Red heart]

I love this. I hung a reproduction in my holiday let children’s room. Very comforting, not uneasy at all. I think..

jamelmougoubi :

it s utterly absurd

It looks like he has no idea of how to draw perspective
