@doratheexplorer289: 🚨 TENNESSEE — WHEN THE CREDIBILITY OF THE FORENSIC EXPERT IS QUESTIONED, THE PUBLIC DESERVES ANSWERS. 🚨 I am sharing a June 6, 1995, Tennessee Department of Labor, Division of Occupational Safety and Health letter addressed to Dr. Charles Harlan of Forensic Pathology Associates. The letter documents a workplace-safety complaint involving allegations about protective equipment, body identification procedures, leakproof body bags, unsanitary conditions, dead mice, and the storage of a dead deer with human remains. To be clear, this letter does not establish that those allegations were substantiated. It does, however, raise legitimate questions about the conditions reported at the facility and what, if anything, was documented in response. Why does Dr. Harlan’s history matter? Because his forensic testimony played a significant role in criminal prosecutions, including the capital murder case against Gary Wayne Sutton. In Sutton’s case, Harlan testified about the estimated time of death of Tommy Griffin. Later experts challenged that estimate. Sutton’s court proceedings addressed these issues, although the federal court did not find sufficient grounds to grant relief on the claim concerning Harlan’s testimony. And the concerns surrounding Harlan’s work did not end there. ⚖️ James Suttle was acquitted after forensic evidence challenged Harlan’s theory of how the fatal injury occurred. ⚖️ Joyce Watkins and Charlie Dunn had their convictions vacated after a review exposed serious problems with the medical evidence in their case. ⚖️ Wayne Burgess had his conviction vacated in 2023 after a judge found that new scientific evidence clearly and convincingly established his innocence. These cases had different facts and legal outcomes. But they raise an essential question: How many times must forensic conclusions be challenged before we demand a closer look at the evidence used to take away someone’s freedom—or someone’s life? Gary Wayne Sutton has maintained his innocence. His case deserves scrutiny based on the actual evidence, the reliability of the expert testimony, and any material information that may not have been available to the jury. A conviction should never mean that questions become forbidden. A death sentence should never mean that further scrutiny is unnecessary. I am calling on Tennessee officials to ensure that every credible concern is examined fairly, independently, and transparently. Review the forensic evidence. Examine the trial record. Address the unanswered questions. And seriously consider clemency for Gary Wayne Sutton. Because when the ultimate punishment is at stake, the pursuit of justice must be stronger than the desire to defend a conviction. JUSTICE REQUIRES ACCOUNTABILITY. CLEMENCY REQUIRES COURAGE. AND THE TRUTH DESERVES A FAIR HEARING. #GaryWayneSutton #JusticeForGarySutton #TennesseeJustice #Clemency #ForensicEvidence @Cooking Crime w/ Chas @Tracey Dianne Ellis @cherylaharlan
