@borntoserve07: Some family members show up like clockwork when the money comes in, then disappear for the rest of the month. The resident goes without clothes, shoes, or personal items while their own income is being spent elsewhere. The hardest part: Mom usually defends them, out of love or out of fear of losing them. After 17 years, I can tell you who shows up on the 1st, and who shows up when she's crying at night. If her check pays your bills while she waits for "next month," that's not helping. That's taking. Nobody wants to say it, so I will. Too many elders are going without the basics while their own income goes somewhere else. They often protect the very people doing it, because losing family feels worse than losing money. Have you seen this in your family or at work?
