@sfmoma: The artist who changed the way RM experienced art 💙🤎 RM first encountered Yun Hyong-keun's paintings at the 2019 Venice Biennale. At a time when life felt like it was moving at full speed, he felt compelled to slow down in front of Yun's work and found solace—it was a moment of connection that changed his relationship with art. Yun Hyong-keun was a leading figure of Korea's 1970s Dansaekhwa movement, defined by abstract monochrome painting and repetitive, meditative mark-making. He layered ultramarine blue and burnt umber, diluted with turpentine, until the colors soaked deep into the canvas and appeared almost black. Spend time with the artworks that have stayed with RM, including a breadth of Korean modern art rarely seen in the US. "RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me" now open. -- All artworks by Yun Hyong-keun. Thank you so much 💜

plantyperson :

Does anyone know what the canvas is made of ?

ririri :

The fact that Namjoon made “Yun” the opening track of Indigo, an album documenting his twenties, and even incorporated Yun Hyong-keun’s actual voice really shows how deeply this artist has continued to inspire him.

Macey Walker :

It’s heartwarming to hear how art gives Namjoon peace & how he’s able to center himself through the connection he makes with the pieces he owns. I feel this same interest, peace, enthusiasm & curiosity the moves Namjoon, also relays to every person that goes to SFMOMA

The exhibit is incredible. If you haven’t gotten a ticket yet, do it. The audio guide makes it feel like you’re Namjooning with Namjoon at your side and he’s talking you through his favorite art pieces 💜💙🤎

And RM is the man that has changed how the world sees Korea. He’s exposed the world to Korean heritage through his art collection. At the same time giving us a little glimpse inside his mind

Mapleit :

I have search for a poster of his amazing art but I can’t find it anywhere. Maybe that’s the whole purpose of the art, which I respect. But if it is possible then I would love to have a poster of his in my home 💜
