You are 100% correct, this is how I have been explaining it. I had my wife come set in the stretch and had her step off the back of the rubber to demonstrate before we went to bed the other evening.

not a balk!! If they wanna talk about being technical, they shoukd call balk everytime pitchers turn to look at runner. They always turn their whole torso/shoulders. Youre not supposed to turn ur shoulders

It’s tough to see but Home plate ump called it immediately. This wasn’t a weight shift though, this was a Panic flinch. I see it all the time with kids and in this big of a moment it’s easy for big leaguers to do.

Agree with you. This is not a balk. It’s not possible to step back w/o adjusting your weight. If we were to slow mo view every other pitchers step back they all did the same thing.
