@btnewsroom: Pro-Palestinian and Indigenous protesters marched through Barcelona on Monday, rejecting Spain's National Day and its colonial legacy. Instead, the protesters called for Palestinian rights, Indigenous rights, and changes to migration policies, challenging the celebration of Spain's colonial past. Spain's National Day marks the anniversary of Christopher Columbus's arrival in the Americas in 1492, followed by centuries of Spanish conquest and colonization. But for Indigenous activists, the holiday symbolizes dispossession and genocide.
