It’s why I was so excited when my local ECHL league signed the only openly gay player. It felt like such a big moment for my team and I’m just hoping a majority of the fans are accepting of him (I already know it won’t be all, we are in the Deep South but a girl can dream). I want to see the culture to change so badly.

agree 100%, hockey boys have always been the worst, them being professional doesn't change that. There is a reason these books hit home, because that hate is very much real in the hockey community

The fact of the matter is that they don’t actually care about us. If they did they’d make institutional changes and actually listen. USA and Canada hockey organizations need to do a complete overhaul as well as the nhl if we want the sport to ever be safe for women, queer people, and people of color.
