@itsalexmars: Can Olivia Rodrigo’s Grammy campaign benefit from a remix that isn’t even eligible? The “expectations” remix with Chappell Roan arrives October 15, during first-round Grammy voting but after the eligibility cutoff. I get into why that timing caught my attention in this week’s Pop Pulse on Sub$tack. L!nk in b!o! This pairing already makes sense: years of working with Dan Nigro, Chappell’s background vocals on Olivia’s songs, and the GUTS tour. Now it gives Olivia’s album another moment in the spotlight while voters are casting their ballots. We don’t know whether that timing was intentional, but the potential benefit is interesting. From “Say So” with Nicki to “Savage” with Beyoncé, a great remix can give an existing song a whole new life. Which pop remix actually made the original better? #OliviaRodrigo #ChappellRoan #Grammys #PopMusic #musicreview
