In the early morning hours on October 11th, 2026, the Tulare Police Department received a call of a domestic violence incident at a party. Officers responded to the scene and determined that a male assaulted a female and drove her away from the scene prior to officers' arrival. A follow up investigation was conducted however officers were unable to locate the male or female. The Tulare Police Department shared the information with surrounding law enforcement agencies in an attempt to locate the male and female. Approximately 90 minutes later, the Tulare Police Department received a call of an injured person in the area of Bardsley Avenue and Pratt Street. When Officers arrived, they located an adult female suffering from significant injuries. Medical personnel responded to the scene and provided medical aid. Unfortunately, the adult female was pronounced deceased. The victim was determined to be the female involved in the earlier domestic violence incident. Detectives continued the investigation and identified Marcelo Rodriguez, 41 years of age from Fresno California, as the suspect involved in the domestic violence incident and the homicide. As detectives began attempting to locate Rodriguez, they discovered Rodriguez had already been arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) by the California Highway Patrol in Kings County. During the DUI arrest by CHP, Rodriguez was observed to have blood on his person and clothing. Tulare Police Department detectives responded to Kings County where they took custody of Rodriguez. Based on statements and evidence located, Rodriguez was arrested and booked for homicide and related charges. The case will be referred to the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office for review and filing. The Tulare Police Department will release additional information when appropriate. No further details are being released at this time to protect the integrity of the ongoing investigation. Anyone with information related to this investigation is encouraged to contact the Tulare Police Department Detective D. Grewe at 559-685-4573 or Detective C. Hinz at 559-685-4568. #Tulare #fyp #559
