parents need this more than teachers... as someone who has hired Gen z in a job. the lack of basic reasoning/logic skills is not something I had time to teach in the work place. but when I have let someone go because they fail so hard without that, I feel so horrible. it's not their fault. it's their parents. it's not the teachers fault, it's the parents!

After college I went through an apprenticeship. Apparently I can’t decide what I want to be when I grow up. They were having a 50% - 75% failure rate for the journeyman exam. I said exactly what you just said and I got castigated. It blows my mind that we will double down on punishing ignorance instead of helping the people we are supposed to be teaching, but we do. And it’s not just teachers, it’s a prevalent attitude in our society
