I get tired of hearing "why?" all the time. so I say "why do you think I would ask you to stop doing that?" sometimes you can get some funny answers. but most of the time they guess right. it helps with their critical thinking thinking, and now when I ask them to stop doing something, they skip the why and straight to thinking and then asking me "is it because _______?"

I do not mind answering questions my kids ask about my decisions, but at the same time, I do not appreciate answering them in a way which they will understand just to be asked the same questions over & over again so that I will eventually give in just so they will stop asking. Some children are very manipulative, & simply answering them when they ask why may very well work for some kids, but not all of them unfortunately.

I dont sugar coat anything with my kids. Just like at walmart today, my youngest begged for a toy and kept asking why, so I stopped and opened up my bank app. and explained to him why we couldn't afford that toy today. he was still frustrated but accepted my answer. doesn't always go that smoothly but they are kids.
