I agree it’s annoying that many players are using them now but I don’t get why we’re acting like teams don’t sign players for full term extensions then trade them half way thru the contract ALL the time. This is just the inverse of that situation where the player has leverage instead of the team. Is it annoying? Yeah probably. Is it unfair? No, not really in the grand scheme of things
