To clear just a few of many things up… 1) I was not holding on because I felt unsafe. Quit the opposite actually. I was holding on to keep the lap bar from going down so that I didn’t lose any airtime, since as a coaster enthusiast, that weightless feeling is something I CRAVE. 2) ROLLER COASTERS ARE STILL VERY SAFE! Accidents happen. You are way more likely to get injured or die in a car (which you get in every day) than a roller coaster. No matter what we do, we are taking a risk. 3) These particular lap bars feel “loose” to some people becuase they do not support your upper body. They are super safe and secure and they hold you in at your waist / thigh area. The gentlemen was overweight, which was likely a factor. Another factor is probably an operator error which caused the man to not be secured in properly after the operator checked his restraint. Could also be a failure in the lap bars locking mechanism, who know. But again, accidents happen. One things for sure, I’ll keep riding these things till I physically can’t anymore! #sixflags #sixflagsovergeorgia #rollercoaster #fyp #goliath
