Bruno Fernandes Miss vs Atletico Madrid 😩 [Bruno Fernandes came agonisingly close for Manchester United against Atlético Madrid, hitting the bar during their UEFA Champions League meeting on 13 October 2026. United still lost 2–0, and the chance added to the frustration over Bruno’s influence, recent form and Michael Carrick’s decisions. In this Manchester United match reaction, I look at Bruno’s moment and why supporters are asking whether the captain should be guaranteed a place when performances dip. Hitting the woodwork can be unlucky, and I’m not pretending it is the same as missing an open goal. My bigger concern is the decision-making, intensity and influence United need from a senior player in high-pressure moments. Carrick’s substitutions also raised questions. Youri Tielemans, Carlos Baleba and Marcus Rashford came off, while Mason Mount, Joshua Zirkzee and Amad came on, with Bruno remaining on the pitch until later in the match. Before kick-off, Carrick said nobody was guaranteed a place, so it is fair to judge that message against the choices made on the night. Watch the moment and tell me honestly: was Bruno simply unlucky, or should Carrick have taken him off earlier?
