Love this retired from the industry in a GM dealer. I would have loved to have this type of mobile mechanic level to have an option for some of the customers we had. You have to pay for that convenience and professionalism

Nothing to do with your repair prices bc I’m not cheap either but the price of that tensioner would piss anyone off! 🤣 I hate selling those but I would never offer an aftermarket alternative bc they’ll always create a comeback! I can tell you from my experience I would never go with a mobile mechanic he came to my house remove my cooler lines on my truck couldn’t find them to replace them had me looking around for them. He never even made the effort to put them back on there had to find someone else I can tell you it was a hot mess next time I’d rather just take it to the shop

Live in a world where everyone “knows how to do our job or knows a mechanic” but yet they’ve called us? Also mobile mechanics obviously not you and technicians doing side work think cheaper is the only way to get customers. Until collectively we stop doing that our industry perspective will never get fixed. What also doesn’t help is yeah they probably can change the water pump themselves but how long will it take? Also are the bolts tight enough and won’t loosen in a few thousand miles… all things no one thinks of and when they do loosen who’s responsible? So many mobile mechanics here block customers numbers after they screw up

I was foreman and had a $300 hart tool box and the guy with the $10k snap on tool box cried to management everyday that I won’t help home with diagnostic. I have more money than you and I lot of people I just don’t flaunt it. Because it attracts predatory people lot for someone to mooch off of and makes poor people mad and then they don’t want to pay you.
