@cbsatlanta: 42-year-old Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem, an Atlanta Public Schools employee who died after being ejected from a roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia on Monday, is the second person to have died on the Goliath ride in more than 20 years–according to data from Atlanta-based attorneys The Doan Law Firm, which tracks amusement park accidents. Kariem's death was the second connected to Goliath and the eighth at Six Flags Over Georgia since 1989, according to the firm. In 2006, a 45-year-old man died after apparently suffering a heart attack while riding Goliath, which had opened earlier that year. The park's earliest recorded death occurred in 1989 on the now-closed Z-Force roller coaster, when an 11-year-old boy lost consciousness and later died at a nearby hospital. Other incidents included the deaths of a groundskeeper struck by a rider's leg on Batman: The Ride in 2002, a teenager who entered a restricted area beneath the same coaster in 2008, a 14-year-old girl who died after becoming ill following a visit to Hurricane Harbor in 2014, a 2-year-old boy struck by a car in the parking lot in 2021, and a woman who fell from a moving vehicle on an employee-only access road in 2023. The firm said Six Flags Over Georgia has the fourth-highest number of deaths among the company's U.S. theme parks, behind Six Flags Great Adventure, Kings Island and Magic Mountain.

When I was young, there was a kid in my class who lost an arm on the Mindbender. That must have been in the 1970s.

The first death was a heart attack. Unfortunate and sad, but it had nothing to do with the coaster itself and is miles away from the incident this week (as we currently understand it). Stop with the clickbait titles and half-truths.
