This might be a silly question, but what about nail polish that’s used on multiple clients? Wouldn’t that still pose the same risk of cross-contamination? Just genuinely curious.

I’m always surprised when I see nail techs touching the tip of the oil dropper to the clients skin. Seems like a no brainer that it’s a no no.

I cut the files in half and use half on them, some of them love to take the file with them so they can sharpen if anything gets dull in their opinion. Never save a nail file for anyone that’s just gross.

have you seen that metal nail file that has like a roll of file paper you slip on the metal like a sleeve? keep the metal and replace the sleeve. cool concept

Can you give some tips to avoid contact derm? I do my own gel x at home and I’m trying to avoid it and be so careful. I wipe my cuticles before curing gel and I wipe down all my products with alch when I’m done. I also use nitril gloves when using any kind of gel. Is this enough or are there other things I need to be incorporating? I’ll attach a pic of my hands so you can see how I’m applying the gel

I actually use the disposable nail files from thenailfilestore. It comes with a plastic base instead of the metal and you just rip off the used file and replace for each client

Have you tried nail file tape? I saw an old nail tech use it and I’m thinking about ordering some. Just comes with a metal stick that you put the file tape on and peel off after using.

Omg! Why is it that every nail salon I’ve gone to they always use the same used nail file and same sanding band on me and every client!?! 🥴 I don’t go to nail salons that often. and I do like to do my nails at home but I need more practice as it takes me a long time. BUT this right here gives me another reason why I should learn to do my nails at home for real!

on the nail file topic, I saw a product, can't remember what it's called to save my life but it's a metal base with file sleeves and you just remove the sleeve and throw that away, I thought it was genius

I only do my sister and a very few friends nails because they know I’m not a licensed nail tech and they understand that there could potentially be consequences with it. I give them the file and then I tell them what I do with the file and I show them how I’ll re-file my nails to sharpen it and make it look more fresh so they understand what to do with it. Because I feel like if I just give them a file, they’re gonna do weird stuff or get scared. They’re gonna fuck it up.
