Now the conversation isn't about their choices. It's about your character. They call you bitter for speaking up, obsessed for recognizing a pattern, unstable for reacting to what happened. Your worst moments get repeated while everything leading up to them gets left out. That's how narrative control works. If people are busy questioning your credibility, fewer people are asking whether what you said about their behavior was true. Before you know it, you're explaining yourself to people who weren't there, correcting rumors you never started, and defending private conversations somebody else rearranged. The exhausting part is believing one perfect explanation will finally clear your name. People committed to a distorted story can turn your defense into another reason to doubt you. Accountability means addressing the actual behavior, not attacking the person who brought it up. Keep evidence where it's important. Correct what needs correcting. Let your actions remain consistent. You don't have to spend your life chasing every version of yourself somebody else created. Their willingness to question your character doesn't erase what happened.
