The first riff of the tweet you showed is a fan account of a guy nicknamed deadstop, aka Hey Chris. He is most famous for being friends with and old roadie of Fall Out Boy who are from Chicago suburbs. They wrote a song shouting him out on their first album called Grenade Jumper. Super wholesome. Then they had a falling out and Thnks Fr Th Mmrs is apparently about him. Chris thought Pete slept with his girlfriend and posted an open letter to a fall out boy fan LiveJournal community. By this time FOB was super famous. “If that’s the worst you got, better put your fingers back to the keys”. Crazy to see on here in 2026. They’ve since made up, but probably not as close as they used to be.

As a Chicagoan: no one is getting shunned for saying deep dish sucks. We all agree that it’s not all that. That tweeter is surely from Naperville. Also, I feel like Chicago’s casual nature has a lot to do with the food too. People think it’s unreasonable to pile all this stuff on, we don’t care ya know? Relax. That’s the vibe. Adults wear backpacks to work here ya know? We’re just not that worried about keeping up appearances.
