All objects fall at the same rate no matter the weight. I spent a lot of time making this, hope you like it! #Science #physics #sciencetok #physicstok #stem #STEMTok #facts #interesting #todayilearned #themoreyouknow #themoreyouknow💫 #interestingfacts #eli5 #learnontiktok #EduTok #longervideos #CapCut So many people disagreeing with me, saying the heavier an object is the faster it falls They all fall at the same rate Here is one of my favorites, an empty bottle of water vs a full bottle of water, And now I’ll use experiments to explain the theoretical proof to you as well Step one is I’m going to slap this bottle of water, when I slap it, I’m applying a force to it, let’s call it F, the object accelerates and then stops due to friction, When I slap it harder it accelerates more, let’s call acceleration a Now if I replace it with a heavier bottle of water, and I slap it at the same rate, it’s not going to accelerate as much, let’s call the mass of the object m So the heavier the object is, the less acceleration it would have with the same force, And here is the formula for our step 1, F = m a, And now for step 2, I’m going to need Newton’s law of Gravitation and this is the formula for it, It’s saying every two object in the world is applying a force on each other, Like this bottle of water and this pen, they’re applying a force to each other that’s just really weak, Aw they like each other The reason it’s weak is because this G is a very small constant number It’s like 0.0000000000667 You know when this force gets big? When the second mass is all of planet earth which is about 6 with 24 zeros in front of it So if we wanna calculate the acceleration of a falling object, the only force being applied to that bottle of water is the gravitational force So step 3 we put the other sides of the equation equal to each other And this is where the magic happens, the reason why the mass of the falling object doesn’t matter Just like Ellen, the mass of the falling object gets canceled from both sides The acceleration of any falling object is just the Gravitational force the PAUSE number multiplied by the mass of our planet, and then divided by the distance of the bottle of water to our planet’s center to the power of 2 So looking at this formula, this G is a constant number, the m2 is a constant number it’s the mass of earth And then this r is from our planet’s core, the radius of earth is like 6 million meters, so as long as you’re not a satellite it doesn’t matter how far high you are, it’ll be a very small change And if you plug in all these numbers, you calculate g, 9.8 meters per second squared Every object falls at this rate in your daily life, including a big stone, or a small stone That’s a reference to my previous video by the way By the way obviously something like a feather or a sheet of paper with a large surface area will fall slower due to air resistance. But the stuff I threw in the beginning of the video wasn't in vacuum. So Like and follow for useful content
