I Came Down to Earth and Got Involved. 😇😂 Now, just suppose I was an Earth Angel. Roll with me, bud. We’re entertaining a possibility, not submitting a lab report. Twenty-four strands: twelve pairs of possibility, woven into one thoroughly human predicament. Memory and imagination. Justice and mercy. Grief and joy. A little heavenly intention tangled up in earthly experience. And somewhere in the middle— Me. Five foot two, left-handed, with a crooked halo and some serious questions about management. Who’s running this place? Who cooked the books? And why is the child going hungry while everyone argues over who deserves a seat at God’s table? Pull up a chair. Put the kettle on. We can discuss your credentials after everyone has eaten. I imagine the orientation went something like this: “Go down there and spread a little light.” “Certainly. Any instructions?” “Love one another.” “Seems straightforward.” Then I arrived. Oh, for heaven’s sake. 🤦😂 Apparently, there were terms and conditions. Love one another, provided they belong to the correct congregation, carry the proper papers, say the approved words, and don’t ask awkward questions during the collection. I have a few awkward questions. First: how did “Love thy neighbour” become an application process? Second: if there are so many rooms in the Father’s house, why are people sleeping outside? Third: who gave you the keys—and why have you changed the locks? Perhaps that is where an Earth Angel gets into trouble. She hears the sermon, looks out the window, and asks why the two don’t match. Then she rolls up her sleeves. Of course, she also gets tired. Loses her temper. Opens a door she should have kept shut. Learns, sometimes painfully, that kindness needs boundaries and that a person can need help you cannot safely give. Even in this allegory, wings wouldn’t excuse me from apologizing. A halo wouldn’t make every hunch correct. I would still have to listen, check my facts, and repair what I broke. Imagine the paperwork. “Did you maintain celestial composure?” “No. I said, ‘Holy shit, Batman.’” “Did it help?” “It helped me.” There would be a pause. Then, I hope, a laugh. Because what kind of heaven sends us here with a funny bone and expects us never to use it? So let the twenty-four strands be the threads of a story: what we inherit, what we discover, what we lose, what we mend. Woven through an ordinary body that needs sleep, supper, affection, and occasionally to be left alone with the cat. Perhaps the wings show up in small gestures. A meal. A ride. A hand held through the worst night. Someone who asks what you need—and stays quiet long enough to hear the answer. Under One Sky, there is work enough for all of us. The halo? Slightly crooked. The wings? A little weathered. The sense of humour? Still operational. “State the purpose of your visit.” I came down to Earth and got involved. Just Tracy, just ’cause. ♥️ — Tracy Peressini ⚖️🦉🪽⚜️ © 2026 Tracy Peressini F.S.C. — For Satirical Consumption #Love #life #humor #Home #truth
