Comprehensively certified Instructor, 6 years teaching experience. Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology, BSN RN I make about $55 per class. I started my first year at $20 it does take time and experience. My first year as a new grad RN I made $31 an hour. I don’t know what the right answer is for appropriate pay but it does carry a lot of opinions at some point I think we have to consider the factors for the owners as well (rent, equipment, payroll, utilities, booking services, maintenance, etc.)

That’s how jobs work. Spend thousands on education anywhere, start at a new company you’re gunna start at the bottom.

Exploitation. I think a lot of studios make most from very expensive teacher training courses. Then they get cheap labor from the students.

I fear you think this is only a Pilates problem? It’s definitely not okay but it’s also literally everybody in every industry. We need to fix this problem all around.

The hard pill for everyone to swallow is simply that the studio model isn’t as lucrative as we’d like to believe. I have advocated for a lot of instructors but it’s not easy for owners either, running a studio is beyond expensive. For many it’s a lifestyle job.
