@thepinkribbondoctor: Approximately 6% of women diagnosed with breast cancer already have stage IV disease. But what does that actually mean? De novo metastatic breast cancer means the cancer has spread to distant parts of the body at the time of the initial diagnosis, rather than spreading after an earlier-stage diagnosis. It may involve the bones, liver, lungs, or brain. A stage IV diagnosis is serious, but it does NOT mean there are no treatment options or no hope. Treatment is individualized based on the cancer’s subtype, where it has spread, and the patient’s overall health. Every breast cancer diagnosis deserves an individualized treatment plan not assumptions. And especially STAGE 4 needs MORE!!! Had you heard of de novo metastatic breast cancer before today? Comment YES or NO below. I’m The Pink Ribbon Doctor, here to help you navigate breast cancer with reliable, honest education. If you need an expert review of your breast cancer surgical options, book a virtual second opinion consultation through the link in my bio. Save this post and share it with someone who needs to understand the difference between stage IV at diagnosis and cancer that spreads later. #MetastaticBreastCancer #stage4breastcancer #StageIVBreastCancer #BreastCancerAwareness #breastcancer

Ashley & Coleman :
I was diagnosed De Novo 3 years ago at age 46, and after having a clear mammogram 7 months prior. Currently on my 2nd line of treatment. It’s scary, but there’s hope! #StageIVNeedsMore 🩷🩵💚
