if you read that verse the people were saying what they done instead of what Jesus had already done...they were self righteous and claiming their good works not believing in the blood Atonement of Jesus Christ...without the blood there's no forgiveness of sin...so Jesus said I never knew you..depart from me...

It needs a balance, constantly preaching on sin will cause sin consciousness which prevents boldness to come into God’s presence.Believers need to be God conscious which enhances a healthy relationship with Him
