Im an EO inquirer. And what I've heard taught is that God can and has saved people outside the church in certain unusual circumstances. HOWEVER, the self-denying life of a Christian is already difficult and having no access to legitimate holy mysteries makes it far far harder. Especially the holy mystery of the community of ancient faith.

Can a baptized Protestant who genuinely trusts in Jesus Christ, receives God's grace, bears the fruit of the Holy Spirit, and perseveres in faith be a member of Christ's one Body without becoming Eastern Orthodox? If yes, in what sense is that person united to Christ's Church? If no, on what biblical and apostolic grounds is that person excluded?

I believe the official orthodox answer is that "we dont know for sure where the church is or is not" to paraphrase. I will say its a little presumptious to assume all protestant denominations condemn the orthodox or catholics (not to be insulting). my lutheran pastor thinks very highly of the orthodox and even luther in his writings commended them, nor did luther condemn catholic laymen. but some baptists and calvinists undoubtedly will, and they will undoubtedly condemn lutherans and anglicains as well. that being said, I do not exclude you nor do I exclude them, though they be ignorant.

I'm a prot, and I'm part of the body. even based on the idea that there is only "one true church" and if you aren't part of the official church establishment you aren't in the body, I raise an important question, how is it that Job, Malchezadek, and The Wise Men, among others, were righteous in God's eyes outside of the one true nation of God? simple, faith.

I still think the Anglican branch theory is the one most congruent with the history of Christendom. We have to thank Eastern Orthodoxy for preserving the apophatic tradition and many other treasures. However, any claims to exclusivity are undermined by current and past inter-orthodox schisms, philethism, nationalism and the fact that Orthodoxy did hardly anything to “save” Western and Oriental Orthodox Christians for centuries.

I think it's presumptuous to assume that one single group, which can potentially be swayed by the call of the flesh, can be the "only true group". I think we invite ourselves into danger by saying "This one group has it right so I have to follow everything they say". The flesh is easily corrupted, and who is to say which group has stayed truly faithful. The main thing for me is relationship with Christ and an active, seeking fear of Him
