Il in Canada and we have the same issues with our child and family services :( we see it all the time. They are constantly being stripped of staffing and resources while cases and issues are going up. Kids are being left in unsafe situations because their situation isn’t as bad as another :( it’s so so heart breaking!!

She didn’t have a good reputation then, but her organization was admired. It was like, “she isn’t very nice but they have 8 kids and she is making it work while John acts like a 9th kid”

Social worker here— co-sign. We used to get more frustrated with APS than CPS but we had remind ourselves that they were literally doing all they could within their budget. It was cold comfort!

Where I live (affluent city) cps is bored shitless. Blamed me for a medical issue my son was having and was part of our lives for 9 months with several diagnosed medical conditions (that were fixed with surgeries). Didn’t stop them from harassing us for 9 months though. Was told if we were a few counties over they would have dropped the case in a day. Cps is broken beyond measure.

RE: psychiatric residency. You have to have medical necessity for admission to a hospital. He had a very long stay and likely did not meet medical criteria. Hospitals are incentivized to keep the child ill for $$. … I agree DCS/CPS is way underfunded and staff is underpaid and overworked. The whole system is broken. There’s so much to say. (I’m a mental health therapist and social worker - have seen the brokenness from the inside).

What do you think of the chances he would be in a licensed medical facility (not a camp or reform school) for 22 months because his mom didn’t like him? What would it cost. Jon has also said in interviews that the kids had a Guardian ad Litem would that person have protected the kid? Obviously the kid has been through something but something doesn’t seem right.
