Caffeine Queen :
I don’t think she means struggling. I think they mean you don’t have everything done quickly and perfect

It sounds like you’re taking it wrong and missing the point

I think it’s because you’re being intentional. Where a lot of designers seem to just want to finish spaces as quickly as possible.

I think they meant not having everything perfectly figured out and instantly installed in a week etc. I kinda felt the same. (And I mean that in a good way) But you always figure out the perfect solution to every challenge!

I think short form content is partially to blame. We’re so used to seeing entire projects completed in a 30sec video. Curation and execution takes time, maybe, especially when we know exactly what we want!

I think what they're calling "difficulty" is just a slower decision making process for things like the kitchen. But I'm the same way. I want to live in the space before making major decisions. I need to see how the light moves, how we use the space, and what I want prioritize bc we're on a budget. Slow and steady wins the race.

Yes! The intentionality and seeing how you live in it take time. I'm having my first baby and have paused on a couple

I haven’t seen you struggle at all. I’ve really enjoyed watching you consider your design choices and how you approach them.

Part of designing your own home is to live in it and feel its design come to life. You’re home is looking great

I love how you're taking your time. Have you heard the story (urban legend?) of the college that waited a year to put in sidewalks? They grew grass, then put the sidewalks where the paths were naturally generated by the community.

I assumed she meant that it wasn’t instantly done like we are used to seeing on tv and social media. That it is validating to see you take it one day at a time like us non designers.

Maybe they’re referring to the struggle you’re having in terms of the structural things you’re having to fix (not the design decisions). It seems like a lot of that was unexpected and it’s something a lot of homebuyers can relate to

difficulty doesn't mean struggling and I don't think it was meant as a diss.

Does your new book cover what are “essentials” or “should dos” when it comes to renovations as young new home owners?

Rushing creates the struggle most often. I love how thoughtful and intentional you are being.

I don’t think it’s that you seem to be struggling but you do seem to be testing rooms and furniture and that feels more like what I would do. You’re feeling out the space and adjusting it as you see it. I think that’s what she’s trying to convey

That is such a refreshing take. I can now say that I have had the *liberty* of taking four years (and counting) to decorate my home. The struggle is real, though 🫠

You’re letting us see the process of your decision making for the space given how you want to use it. I see you engaging with the space and making determinations over time. It’s a different way to see how you make decisions! [Red heart][Red heart][Red heart]

I totally understand, renovating a house and living in it has helped us really use the space and make it our own.
