It's an FE most likely a 390! could be a 352 or 360! highly doubt it's a 427 or 428! My money is 390 for sure

360 with the 2 barrel carb. But what’s up with the front axle. Not closed knuckle and it has hubs. They were full time 4x4 so that’s not original. I wasn’t aware they came with open knuckle. Maybe it’s swapped. Show pics of the divorced transfer case.

More than likely 351/400M. 460’s were more common in 78+ years.. the casting should have a stamp of FE on front drivers side of block 352-428
