All the mistakes I made when I first started solids (so you don’t have to) 👶🥄 When I hit the 6-month stage, I thought I had to do everything perfectly. Turns out, most of what I stressed about were totally normal learning moments. Here’s what I wish I knew sooner: I started with mostly fruit and “easy foods” 🍌 I didn’t realize babies actually need iron-rich foods early on, not just purees and avocado. Once I learned that, it completely changed how I planned meals. I waited too long to introduce allergens 🥜 I was nervous, so I delayed — but I later learned early exposure (when baby is ready) is actually recommended. I expected my baby to eat real portions 🍽 At first they barely swallowed anything. I thought something was wrong, but it’s normal — the beginning is mostly practice and exploration. I stressed over every single meal 😅 I wanted balanced plates every time, when in reality nutrition happens over days and weeks, not one perfect lunch. I worried constantly about choking 😬 That anxiety made feeding feel scary instead of exciting, until I understood textures and safe prep better. I tried to remember everything in my head 🧠 What they tried, what they liked, reactions, what to serve next — it was way too much mental load. That’s actually why I started using Tummi 🤍 It helped me track what my baby tried, guided me on iron-rich foods and allergens, and honestly took away so much of the mental load. Instead of guessing, I felt like I had a simple roadmap. Looking back, none of these mistakes made me a bad mom — they were just part of learning. Starting solids is a skill for both you and your baby. If you’re in this stage, just know: you’re not behind, you’re not messing it up, you’re just figuring it out 💛 #startingsolids #firsttimemom #newmom #babyfeeding #babyledweaning
