As soon as these thoughts start I know what’s about to happen.   Out of what feels like nowhere, everything in my life feels wrong. I have thoughts of leaving my relationship, I feel terrible at my job, I hate my body and start eating everything in sight. And the sh*ttiest part of it all is that the thoughts sound very convincing and very urgent. Very very real.   I’ve gotten a lot better at recognizing this over the years! Not without still feeling like a big pile of 💩 while it’s happening… but enough to be able to take a {meaningful} beat before drawing big conclusions about what’s true about me.   So yeah awareness definitely doesn’t make the thoughts disappear but it does give me more space to at least attempt to go a bit easier on myself while it’s all happening. And it helps me to not rewrite my whole life just because these thoughts feel true in the moment.   If you experience PMDD or luteal shifts, you know what I’m talking about (and I’m sorry 😢)   The most helpful thing for me is recognizing it when it starts and reminding myself that this too shall pass. That I don't have to take these thoughts seriously right now. Oh and magnesium glycinate, Lexapro, tracking my cycle, educating my partner, and giving myself more permission to just say f*ck it I'm going to lay down… that all helps too :). *and I’m not saying PMDD is what’s happening for everyone here, but I am trying to normalize that if you DO experience intense thoughts like these in luteal, you’re not alone. And if you in fact do have PMDD, that’s real too. And I’m sorry if anyone’s downplayed your experience. **also if you're interested in supplements or meds, (or in exploring whether you have PMDD, PME or any other type of hormonal issue) please check with your doc first about what could be right for you, don't just take my word for it :) ) #therapistsoftiktok #therapy #therapists #pmdd #luteal
