I remember I was literally in the middle of laying tile on a new build and the GC (general contractor) came in and handed me a check for 8k and said "you can finish or pack up and go home, this is your last check." This was the summer of 2008. Everybody cleared the neighborhood is disbelief. We scrambled for custom jobs for a couple months and managed to pull in another 22k before fall hit and then nothing for 9 months. I had to get another job. I paid the couple of guys that held on with me and we parted ways. It was a sad time. I was back in business the following year making 110k and then 2012 hit and we started to crash again. gas was over $4 and I filled up 3 trucks twice a week to keep going. It's not just Trump, so why's he always get the blame? $4 for gas in 2012 is crazy af!!
