Here's how I have been trying to explain it to men (and women) who don't understand gym culture. . Most of us gym goers hate our bodies. Yes, even the ones you look at and think are living Greek statues. Now some days we don't hate our bodies completely, or some days we like one part. So maybe we wear an outfit that accentuates what we're not unhappy with and we feel a little better about ourselves. . That's what all the cute outfits and the tank tops and the stringers and the short shorts (for men or women) are all about. They are for personal enjoyment, empowerment, and brief nuggets of being proud of your work. . I fully support all of my gym brothers and sisters wearing whatever they want to feel comfortable and to feel a little better about themselves.
