i was just there I suggest finding something in old phuket town for the best experience, I stayed in patong at the kalima hotel was great but cabs everywhere cause your a bit out of the way.

It genuinely breaks my heart seeing what Phuket has become. I was born and raised there, half Thai and half European, and back when I was a kid, Phuket was still so much more peaceful. So many beautiful beaches were hidden gems, but now they're overcrowded with tourists, and don't even get me started on the driving 😭 People who've never ridden a motorcycle before can just rent scooters and drive around like maniacs, causing accidents everywhere. The amount of crime nowadays is unbelievable too. I know tourism brings money, but at what cost? If I ever return to Phuket, it'll be for a vacation to revisit my birthplace out of nostalgia, but living there again? Absolutely not. Tourism has ruined so much of what made Phuket special, and it genuinely hurts watching the place I grew up in become unrecognizable.
