Not all but some people like myself, who was born and raised in a religious household and told to believe in a god and you create this relationship with god and after many years later, you look back and you start to look at the atheists and realise maybe they are right, I just left Islam a few months ago, I still can’t shake off the existence of god, and maybe I don’t have too, but I do know that my image of god is much greater than what any religion tells me about him. And I’m still figuring it all out.

the realization that no one is coming to save you is slow, it creeps in and once it's there there's no stopping. Rest doesn't exist. the internal conflict of "I need to make more money" and " I need to spend more time with my family" repeats over and over. You need to rest but there are bills to pay and goals to meet and neither can be accomplished by sitting down or giving up. regardless of how much it hurts or how hard it is, the only thing you can do is keep moving forward.

I was at a concert with my sister and a woman touched my arm as she walked by and said "Hey there Handsome" and I then had to tell my sister that nothing was wrong as i tried not to bawl my eyes out as I realized that was the first unprompted compliment I had gotten in over 10 years.

I remember a compliment that was paid to me when I was 12 years old. A work colleague of my aunt said I was so handsome that to this day I always (after a particularly brutal rejection) still replay that kind and beautiful woman's remark on my 12th birthday that the rejection wasn't due to my level of attractiveness but an idiosyncracy that existed in the woman who had been the object of my affection. Thank You Harriet for letting me know so many years ago that I'm good looking guy and that it's not always looks that attract the fairer sex. 😊🧡

The value of loneliness as a safe space. No one explains to you why at certain point even the closest of friends feel distant, like you drifted apart without knowing. Then it hits that the distance between people and you is actually way better than to be near everyone because 99.9% of the people do not love you for you, but for what you can give to them. Me particularly: I have only found two people in my life like that. My daughter… and then I found my wife. What makes me sad is that my daughter is not my wife’s kid, but I’ll be damned… because they are incredibly alike and that I love.

The not having friends as you get older hits hard you just don’t like how some people act of how you get treated then eventually you push everyone away to be alone with your family, I cry about this quite often I used to have “friends” but they never asked me to hang out or anything so I just sit here and think why? What’s wrong with me? What did I do? And most times it’s nothing it’s not me it’s just they don’t find the same things interesting

back when i was in school in 2019 a girl i wasnt REALLY close with said happy birthday too me in my first class when i got to school. idk how she knew it was my birthday wether a social media i was friends with her on notified her it was my birthday but the fact that she cared enough to wish me a happy birthday and we wasnt even close has stuck with me.
