that was technically the original script. Kang escaping & Scott trapped in the quantum realm with Cassie taking on the mantle in his absence, but it was considered too dark of an ending

Said that since day one, there are four other shrinking/growing hero characters now. If Scott died delaying Kang’s rise it would’ve preserved Kang as a serious threat and gave Scott a respectful end.
