@hellofalife_55: it’s time to get the girls into some clean jars! no discard today, just a little maintenance and a fresh feeding for margaret and millie. millie was definitely hungry! she had that strong apple cider vinegar smell, which can happen when your starter has gone a little too long between feedings. margaret was still nice and active from her earlier feeding, but i wanted to make sure she was ready for tomorrow’s baking. both girls got a 1:1:1 feeding today. that’s equal parts starter, water, and flour by weight. and since those pesky little fruit flies have been hanging around, i’m sharing my easy little trick! just add some apple cider vinegar to a small cup, put a lid on it, and poke a tiny hole in the top. the vinegar attracts the fruit flies, and once they get inside, they have a hard time finding their way back out. you can also add a tiny drop of dish soap to help trap them. keep it near your starters, and always make sure your starter jars are covered! #sourdoughstarter #sourdoughtips #sourdoughforbeginners #sourdoughmaintenance #sourdoughbaking
