@sihlemasinda: Soweto Marathon Is Not Happening This Year 🇿🇦 The founder speaks out. Full interview on YouTube. #clubkeepgoing #clubkeepreporting #ckg

Hezzy :

The Soweto Marathon should follow the Comrades Marathon model. It is a major event and it does not need to be held back by boardroom politics.I suggest you go it alone. Open registrations and we, the runners, will pay. Even if the entry fee is R500 or R1,000, we will pay.We were born and bred in Soweto. This race is our history, our heritage — it is a people's race. We do not need to worry about the consortium or the board members. If you want this race to happen, do it like the Comrades. Just open entries and give us race numbers. Forget about the internal disputes. We are citizens of Soweto. We will come out in our thousands — in fact, in our millions — to run. We proved this last year. Despite all the disputes and infighting, we still came out in large numbers and registered, because we want to run in the streets of Soweto. This is a race we run every year. It is our legacy.

Le nna I am very hurt, been running Soweto Marathon since 2017/18 and always looked forward to it. Miss the days when entries would be released around March and come June they are sold out, that’s how much we loved the Peoples Race. #BringBackSowetoMarathon 🥹
