A family very close to me in the Klamath Basin just lost everything in a house fire. My friend is the Director of Culture & Heritage for the Klamath Tribes. He has dedicated so much of his life to his people, his culture, his family, and the living world around him. Right now, he and his family are the ones who need people to show up for them. The fire took their entire home and everything inside it. He and his wife, their two children, the granddaughter they adopted and are raising, and his mother, who is sick and in his care, have all been displaced. Right now, the whole family is staying in a motel, waiting to figure out what comes next. Imagine suddenly having no home to return to, no belongings to gather, and an entire household spanning several generations needing to rebuild their lives at once. I was just with this family in the Klamath Basin. These aren’t strangers whose tragedy I heard about from a distance. These are people I know, care about, and have shared time, land, food, knowledge, and friendship with. So I’m asking the community I’ve built here to help me show up for them. If you have the ability to donate, even a small amount collectively becomes something substantial. Money right now means motel rooms, food, clothing, basic necessities, transportation, and eventually the enormous task of rebuilding a home and a life. And if you can’t donate, please share this. Reach is a form of help too. Somewhere in all of our extended circles are enough people to make sure this family doesn’t have to face this alone. They lost nearly everything they owned. Let’s remind them that what they haven’t lost is community. Donation information is in the post/link. Please give what you can and help me carry this as far as possible.@kolsriddle
