We can simply says death penalty but the law will look into many parts and angles before they give the verdict. They will do a thorough investigation. That is why some cases takes very long to close.Especially domestic violence. I came to know these through someone who is working in a legal firm.

Problem is this case is not murder or culpable homicide which involves torture and cruelty. This case more towards ill treatment where the parents don’t know what they are doing when comes to taking care of infant and unfortunately the baby died.

Not a lawyer but I would presume its not a heavier sentence because they weren't charged with Murder. But I believe the official sentence has yet to be given by the presiding judge. Who knows, maybe he will ignore was the prosecution was seeking and impose a heavier sentence.

Life sentence without parole will be better for infanticide instead of the dead penalty because ironically for some they suffer a much longer time in jail than the DP. The DP you suffered less than a minute and then it's over. The life sentence you suffer the rest of your life inside the prison.
