October 14 — Ukrainian Insurgent Army Day In 1942, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) emerged as a force fighting for an independent Ukrainian state in the darkest of times. For years, UPA fighters fought against two empires, defending their land and their right to be Ukrainian. They were subjected to attempts to destroy them, discredit them, and erase them from history. But their legacy endures: freedom does not come for free — it must be fought for. Today, Ukraine once again stands against an aggressor, and the struggle continues in the same spirit. Honor to those who fought then. Strength to those who fight today. Glory to Ukraine! Glory to the Heroes!
