Save this for your next trip! Lake Bled absolutely exceeded my expectations. I thought it was going to be an overrated tourist spot but it was honestly so magical. Here is what I recommend you do - these can all be done in one day. 1. Hike the Mala Osojnica trail. You only need to hike to the first view point for what I think is the best viewpoint in lake bled. It is better than the castle view because you are so much closer to the island and monastry. It is only a 15-20 minute hike up so it is totally worth it. Just look at the photo! 2. Rent a row boat. I know this is touristy but it is such a quintessential experience. You even get to row the boat yourself which is actually a lot harder than it looks. You can row the boat to bled island then visit the island. We went during high season and it cost €30/hr and it fit up to 4 people so honestly if you have 4 people it is not too expensive. I believe it is cheaper during off peak season. I would recommend renting from a place that is close to the island so that you can quickly get there if you want to visit the island 3. Eat the famous Bled Cream Cake. Many many places sell it but I recommend eating it at Karavan Park which is where it originated from. It is exactly what it sounds like - a cream cake and to be honest it is nothing special but I loved the terrace at the cafe as it overlooks the lake so it felt really nice enjoying my cream cake whilst looking at the lake. This cost €7.2 but they are huge slices and we shared it between 2. 4. Go for a swim! You need to do this if it is summer. The water is so nice and not cold at all for an alpine lake. I believe this is because the lake is fed by some thermal springs. The water was so refreshing and there are a lot of free swimming spots around the lake near the island. Be careful as some places will charge you and some places you are not allowed to swim so just look for the free areas where everyone is swimming in lake bled. 5. The Lake Bled Loop track - everything you need to do and everything I listed is accessible by this loop track so you can take your time doing the track and making stops along the way. Even the Bled castle and the toboggan ride which I did not mention are accessible too. The track is only 6km and takes around 1.5-2hrs if you do not stop and it’s well paved most of the way. It offers you great views and different perspectives of the lake. My favourite is the side closer to the island because you get really good views of the island on the water. Hope these tips and recommendations help and have the best time if you go! #lakebled #slovenia #europetravel #beautifuldestinations #traveltips
