The only thing I kinda like about Green Lantern 2011 was that it was my first introduction to the character when I was a kid and I have it on my heart as a special movie. no, it's not good, nowhere good, no amount of "comic accuracy" makes it good, I love it but never on my life i will defend it

It’s bad because the screenplay is atrocious. The story somehow slows down once he gets his ring. He gets a training sequence with Kilowog, then a near exact one with Sinestro, then stops believing in himself and leaves to earth to face the consequences of a generic villian he hardly interacts with. Movie should’ve been more of a Hal/Sinestro duo like in Secret Origins actually being in active duty for his training. Then Hal’s crisis of confidence could’ve come from an actual rookie mistake he makes on duty, not training on Oa. It’d also make the Sinestro turn at the end actually meaningful. But they just threw all the GL lore at us with no solid structure to benefit the characters or story, that’s why it’s bad

no the reason why Green lantern 2011 was bad was because of its writing an awful CGI and had some really cool construct moments and the budget to show it but the human villain did basically nothing the actual main villain gets killed off way too easily and we have a post credit scene that leads to nowhere
