@wimbledon: Roger Federer. Rafael Nadal. Just over 20 years ago they contested their first Wimbledon final. 2006 saw the pair bring their rivalry to grass for the very first time. Nadal was the only player to have defeated Federer that year, but the top seed and three-time defending champion proved too strong. A year later, Nadal came closer. Pushing Federer to five sets in the final. But Federer prevailed once again, claiming his fifth consecutive title at Wimbledon. Then came 2008. One of the greatest rivalries produced one of the greatest matches. Five gruelling sets with rain delays and fading light saw Nadal end Federer’s 65-match winning streak on grass and claim his first Wimbledon title. The two did not meet again on grass for 11 years.
