I will not talk for other, but for myself I used food as a way to both comfort and punish myself. I deeply hated not just how I physically looked but who I was after years of abuse. Food for me became a way of self harming myself. Since being on my weight loss journey, changing not only my diet but my eating habits overall, and focusing on showing myself compassion and self love, the relationship I have with myself has done a complete 180. As someone who was 18st went down to 11st went back up to 16st 2lbs and now back to 13st 10lbs (trying to get back down to at least 11st now) I respected myself at every size but there is absolutely a clear difference in how people treat you as simple as. When Im fat men are mean and woman are nice and when I'm slimmer men are nicer and a lot of woman are mean 😂

As someone who’s lost 8 stone I do kind of agree. Those who manage to maintain a healthy weight, or even maintain a fantastic body do it with discipline. I’ve lost weight with MJ and without and I’m more proud of the without weightloss. Because I proved I could do it without intervention. I didn’t respect that I’d done it and keep on top of it

i don't smoke , I don't drink , I don't do rugs . I respect every part of me. having 5 kids and no thyroid has killed and is killing my body . I think people who think fat people are lazy , not clean and don't respect themselves need to actually give their heads a wobble .

Oh fuck all the way off to this commenter! You have zero idea about why people are fat! I have medical conditions for a start which requires medication. Plus genetic factors. Judgy pricks who have zero knowledge or empathy get zero respect from me.

Exactly!! For me, it’s my addiction. Some people smoke, others drink, I ate! And ate. I should have had more self control but I really couldn’t

Until binge eating disorder and food addiction is recognised in the same way as other eating disorders and addiction this mentality will not change .

Yes I do know what I am talking about. I used to be nearly 300lbs myself. Medical conditions don’t help but aren’t an excuse to be 300lbs, there are no calories in medication. Medication can make you feel lack of energy or want to eat more but it’s for you to respect yourself enough to not give into the cravings. I used to bordum eat and a lot of people do that to. That isn’t respecting yourself. Would you respect a drug user or an alcohol user like you would someone who is “addicted to food”? If you’re addictes to food use a glp because there is no excuse for being fat. Being fat causes a lot of medical issues and that is respecting or looking after yourself. Being fat is a choice that you made yourself so yes you clearly do not respect yourself if you let yourself get obese so why should other people respect you?
