August’s No Original, destroyed. 🥀 Every month, I make an original piece exclusively for No Originals. I turn it into a print for subscribers, and then whether I love it, hate it, or want to keep it, I destroy the original. There’s been something so freeing in that. Not just in destroying the original, but in creating it. Both are lessons in letting go and, in a weird way, protecting something sacred that could never be recreated again. The print gets to exist in the world, and the memory of it does too, but the original doesn’t. This one was painted in a season of slow, uncomfortable transition, like peeling a wet bathing suit off. I’ve been shedding a lot of past versions of myself, and right now I’m letting go of the version that doubted herself and felt so lost. The version of me that longed to figure out “her thing,” when maybe her thing was, and always will be, to consistently iterate, to feel deeply, and let it move her. If you’re in that space, man, I see you. These past 15 years have been daunting. Feeling like something was finally clicking into place, only to feel defeated when it didn’t. Trying to fit into one box, and then the next, and then another. Trying on different lives to see how they felt. Getting excited, burning out, realizing again that it wasn’t going to last. I don’t know what the future holds, but I do know this: The next version of me can no longer bring that Sarah with her. #nooriginals #mailclub #printclub 🎶: “Porcelena” by Rosalía
