@alexander_widener: This time it’s for real. Let’s harvest the bounty from my first vegetable garden. I grew some things and learned A LOT. I call that a success!
Every gardener has been exactly where you are - the learning curve will be quick and every year your garden will be more and more abundant!

omg “I wish you guys could smell this — the scent of fresh carrots coming out of the ground. It’s heaven; I wish I could bottle this.” 🥹 I know you love Martha and hope you realize that it’s not the perfect outcome that makes the Marthas and Inas of the world so beloved, it’s the way they connected with people like that 🤍

If you want your full size carrots to grow longer next year, make sure they have space to grow all the way down too. We get small round carrots here in East TN when the soil has too much clay in it. If you loosen your soil about 10 inches deep and add compost (in addition to spacing them out like you said) they should lengthen!

Your garden is gorgeous ✨ If it’s a bit shady (like mine) any type of leafy veg like lettuce, kale, collards, chard grows well in some shade. Herbs do well too!

I’ve found with carrots in beds you have to get right to the bottom of the bed and loosen all of the soil before planting so they grow downwards more- congrats on your harvest!!!

Tomato plants need pinching back when young so they get thick.

You did great!!! Fun fact carrots are sweeter after the first frost, so next year wait. Those second ones look like “shortn’sweet”s (not to be confused with Sabrina carpenters album) and are some of my favorites!

I think if you compost more, your soil will be richer. Just as I’m looking at your videos that’s my first thought. As always love your content!❤️
