The final piece of the bedtime puzzle (for now... because there are so many helpful bedtime tools!) is boundaries. As toddlers grow, boundaries become such an important part of keeping bedtime on track. Testing limits is completely developmentally normal—they're learning what happens when they push, negotiate, or ask for "just one more." If you're finding the same bedtime challenge popping up night after night, it's often worth asking yourself: Where is the boundary? A classic example is the endless request for "one more book"... and then another... and another! Decide beforehand how many books you're happy to read, and stick with that plan. In our situation, if my little one became more energetic or physical, I'd calmly remind him that I'm happy to stay for cuddles because I love that time together. But if he isn't able to settle his body, I'll need to step out of the bed until he's ready. Holding a boundary doesn't always get a happy reaction straight away—and that's okay. It's normal for children to be frustrated when they hear "no," but consistent, calm boundaries help them feel safe and know what to expect. Let's chat! 💛 Is this something you've experienced with your little one? Lucy xxx
